Today, I’m thrilled to share my journey and insights in an exclusive interview with Technology Group, Funktion One's official representative in Ukraine.
Hello everyone, I’m Uzo—a DJ, Executive Producer, Educator, Designer, Business Consultant, Artist, and Community Activist. For over 20 years, I have been deeply immersed in the culture and sound of the Chicago House Music & Global Music scene, a genre that shaped my career and the global music landscape. While contributing to the success of Uber Technologies in Chicago, I simultaneously became part of the city’s rich musical history. Through my work as a DJ and event producer, I’ve had the privilege of influencing cultural movements, blending art and music, and making my mark on the world stage.
My dedication to this craft has been recognized by some of the most prestigious institutions, including MALA National, the Library of Congress, Voice of America, the National Museum of African American History & Culture, and even The White House. These honors reflect my contributions to music and my commitment to cultural impact.
Over the years, I’ve had the incredible fortune of sharing the stage with some of the most iconic names in house music—Terry Hunter, Paul Johnson, Jesse Saunders, Mark Farina, Julius TheMad Thinker, Gene Farris, DJ Madrid, and many more. However, one of the most memorable milestones in my career came during the 2015 commemoration of the life of Frankie Knuckles, a Chicago house music pioneer. It was an unforgettable moment where I connected with the legends of house music and Frankie’s family. That Boiler Room Day at SmartBar and Gramaphone Records will remain a defining chapter in my journey.
Beyond Chicago, I’ve expanded my vision by curating and producing high-end, exclusive experiences for the world’s elite. My work during Miami Art Basel and other private luxury productions has pushed the boundaries of creativity, where music, art, and innovation converge. These events have become more than just entertainment—they are cultural movements designed to captivate and inspire. From intimate gallery events to large-scale, bespoke productions, each project reflects my commitment to creating unforgettable experiences.
